On January 29th, 2007 I flew to Dallas Texas where
Dr. Jack P. Gunter from Dallas Texas would be performing rhinoplasty surgery to correct some imperfections. I want to show you what I've seen each time I have looked in the mirror for the past year. For myself, this has been an absolutely horrific experience. Here you will see pictures and video of what I have gone through. I call this my Rhinoplasty Nightmare.
After my 8 hour surgery I woke up in severe pain. I could not even touch my tip. Well, as soon as possible they send you home, or in my case, back to the hotel room. I was to see Dr. Gunter again on Monday, so I had to stay a week in Dallas. Well, my tip was black all around the stitch line even while I was fresh out of surgery. It was dark and milky looking, almost black then. They should have known something was up. Dr.Gunter told my girlfriend while I was in recovery there was an unexpected complication. He also states in his videos that there was some "duskiness" on the tip when he closed me up. I did not see Dr. Jack P. Gunter again....FOR 4 DAYS! And, That was in his office....Where was the concerned doctor this whole time? Why was I left in the hands of nurses and Dr.Marin (your fellow)? Are they really as knowledgable as you "THE WORLD RENOWNED DOCTOR"? Why did you not even come in while I was in recovery? This was your case and a complication occured...Where were you? 4days later? I was sent back to the hotel. You knew something was wrong! If I were your son would you have handled it this way? I think not! Why was I sent home...who knows?! Well, I called his office like a day or two later to tell them about the stitch line getting blacker and wider around it. I went to the office immediately and Dr. Vincent Marin (one of the doctors that helped perform the surgery, harvested the rib cartilage and lipoed my neck) saw me. Dr. Gunter was at a meeting or out of town if I remember correctly. They cleaned me up and sent me back to the hotel and later I went home to Alabama! My nose then turned black on the stitch line and proceeded to rot off underneath. I went back to Dallas a few times for them to stare at me and wonder hmmmm. Meanwhile, I am paying for all of these flights and all of them were fly in, fly back, on the same day.
These flights and visits were very hard on me as it was not too long after the surgery. Oh...He did drive me to the airport after I could not get the airport shuttle guy to wait for me...He left me.....So, after me trying unsuccessfully and struggling on the phone to get a cab to the airport before I missed my flight....He finally offered to take me to the airport! The office at this point was closed and everyone leaving and ready to go .WOW! I felt like I was a nucance/problem! Why I was originally sent home with it black I will never know. I think they might have been thinking...Oh My GOD....LET'S JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS..... I eventually wound up with the tip of my nose GONE! I had to see a specialist and had to have my forehead twisted at 180 degree angle and pulled down onto the hole in my nose for a few weeks so that a piece of meat would take and try and become my tip.....My tip now grows hair (it's from my scalp).
Above are some pictures and
videos of the rotting and the flap of forehead skin put on to repair it...By the way....
Dr.Jack P. Gunter refused to pay to fix this disaster!
This truly has changed my life FOREVER!!! I am $100k+ out of pocket now to fix this! This page is still under construction and I will be adding tons of information as I go....There will be blogs and message boards...etc!
ABOUT NECROSIS:
*When tissue quickly turns black and dies from necrosis , I think the primary cause is ischemia (lack of blood supply). I wonder if they nicked and cauterized a vital blood vessel or compromised a capillary bed in my nose possibly depriving some of the some of the tissues of nutrients and oxygen. A BIG hunk of rib stuck into a too widely dissected pocket might have done that!
It is my opinion that the nose was built up with WAY TOO MUCH RIB and when he closed it back it was like trying to put a car cover that used to fit on a small car onto a now much longer and larger car....When they draped this skin back over the nose and stitched it between the nostrils, The skin could just not handle the stress of the new framework and started dying "ON THE STITCH LINE".....It did not start on the tip in the front of the nose,But underneath where it was stitched up horizontally BETWEEN THE NOSTRILS.When touching this area it felt stressed and very, very thin.Like touching bone! It was milky and black right after surgery.

Excessive undermining, injudicious cautery use, and overzealous skin thinning may lead to skin necrosis. This may cause a impaired blood supply and infection.Similarly, A tight dressing may cause vascular impediment and skin necrosis.
